A journey to a better health in 2017

I was accompanying my friend to a drugstore to buy medicines on the 2nd of January, 2017. The drugstore had a free blood pressure check-up and my friend had his blood pressure taken. The Lord impressed in my heart that I should have mine taken, too, even if I was not feeling anything ill. Lo and behold, the reading on the blood pressure monitor showed 140/100! My friend became alarmed and told me that it’s high!

“Are you sure you don’t feel anything not normal, like a headache or anything?” I told him, no. Nothing. He said, my blood pressure was not okay and I should have myself checked by a doctor.

The next day, he accompanied me to a clinic to have myself checked. The doctor advised me to go through different procedures – blood works, liver ultrasound, and something for the heart (wherein the technician placed a blood pressure monitor and it must stay attached to my left arm for 24 hours). I will get the results for all procedures tomorrow, the 5th of January, 2017.

In the meantime, the Lord gave me the wisdom to change my diet. I am now into a diet more on fruits and vegetables and I try to sleep early now. I am also eliminating the very thing I love taking in the morning and once I get to the office – Coffee! No sodas and iced teas, too.

My close friends who were aware of what happened to me also suggested that we start walking because that is good for my heart. I believe that is going to be fun!

I closed the year 2016 without inking a single New Year’s Resolution not knowing I would begin the year 2017 with one – to take good care of my health!

I’ll keep you, my reader, posted on this journey of mine to a better me in 2017 and hope that you get a thing or two from it.

1 Corinthians 6:19 says, “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.” I believe it’s high time for us to take good care of our health and our body.
