You honor and love your earthly father for he is providing you with the material things you need and want, for taking good care of the family, and for all other reasons that make him the earthly father you could ever ask for. But your father, just like all of us, is also a human being.
And as a human being, your father, is an imperfect person. Even if how hard he tries to be perfect and not to commit mistakes so as not to disappoint the family, he will miss the mark at one point or another. But even if he does miss the mark, you still continue to love, honor, and respect him. Knowing that all of us sin and fall short of the glory of God.
But when you become born again and accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, the Heavenly Father becomes your Father, too! You now have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of you.
The Bible says in Romans 8:14-16, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “ Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are Godʼs children.”
Knowing this truth, that you have been adopted into sonship as a child of God, you must also realize that you are now able to live having the qualities of a child of God. Just like you have the qualities of your earthly father.
Be holy for your heavenly Father is holy (1 Peter 1:16). Be a giver for He has given His best, His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, so that you may have eternal life with Him. Live a life that is dependent and surrendered fully to Him. Live in confidence knowing that your Father is able to do mighty things and He is faithful to His promises. If there is one thing that He cannot do, that is He cannot lie.
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to pay for my sins. Jesus, thank You for being my Lord and Savior. Holy Spirit, I invite you to dwell in me and lead me all the days of my life. Thank You for I am now a son of the Most High, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
